Passion of the Christ
The Passion of the Christ depicts the final 12 hours of Jesus’ life leading up to his crucifixion. From the Garden of Gethsemane, where Judas betrays Jesus, to the courts of Pontius Pilate, the viewer is invited to step into the life of Jesus and grapple with the price Jesus paid for our sins. It is a powerful portrayal of Jesus’ selfless gift and sacrifice.
The evening will begin with a meal and the movie, followed by discussion, scripture and prayer. It is sure to be a powerful night as we wait for the sun to rise Easter morning. Friends are welcome to attend. Good Friday, April 14 | 8:30 p.m. | Christian Underground
May Series: See Through Life
We face so many temptations, opportunities and possible ways to follow the road to success…and just as many possible ways to derail those plans. This series will reveal that we can experience life with the knowledge that someone’s got your back. No matter what. And when we can trust that we’re surrounded by people who want us to succeed as we follow Christ, well …then, there’s nothing to hide.
Lent Series: Seven Daily Sins
Pride. Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Envy. Sloth. Wrath. These are the “seven deadly sins” made popular by ancient theologians and contemporary movies. We’ve all dealt with these sins at one time or another. Willpower can’t solve the problem; neither will behavior modification. That’s because these sins aren’t things we do-they’re who we are. We carry them around in our hearts daily.
But the good news is, well, the Good News. The power of Christ’s perfect obedience, sinless sacrifice, and glorified resurrection gives us the freedom to confidently diagnose the root of our sins, boldly kill those sins through gospel-fueled repentance, and joyfully walk in newness of life.
July 1 – 8, 2017 we have a team heading to Catadupa, Jamaica. Learn more about our mission here.
